Report on Training Program for DPSMUN
11th -12th August, 2007

Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram was proud to host the DPSMUN Training Program on 11th and 12th August, 2007. The Training Program brought together students and teachers from all over India to share their knowledge of Model UN and global issues. The main aim of the Training Program was to enhance the students understanding of the Model United Nations and develop their skills of diplomacy and communication.

The response was overwhelming. 83 schools (57 DPS Schools and 26 other public schools) participated. The training programme had a total of 300 students and teachers. The Training Program included Plenary sessions, Model UN skill building workshops and Model UN simulations.

The Model UN skill building workshops included the following sessions:

  • Internet Research - Facilitated by Vakasha Sachdev, Student, DPS Noida and Vismaya Jain, Student, DPS Mathura Road.
  • Caucusing - Facilitated by Aanya Sharan, Student, DPS R.K Puram and Ayush Srivastava, Student, DAV Public School Gurgaon.
  • Resolution Writing - Facilitated by Nishit Sharma, Student, DPS Dwarka and Surabhi Kanga, Student, DPS Vasant Kunj.
  • Training the Dais - Facilitated by Sanjana Manaktala, Student, DPS R.K Puram and Pranav Sawhney, Student, DPS Vasant Kunj.
  • How to plan a MUN Conference - Facilitated by Ms Kamava Bopana and Ms Vandana Chandhoke.


The main objectives of these workshops were:

  • To introduce the delegates to the terminology used and provide an overview of the skills needed at Model UN conferences.
  • Describe the ways in which an advisor can prepare his or her team for a conference
  • Highlight all aspects of conference participation from developing position papers to writing resolution papers

The sessions were informative and interactive. The students learnt from each other to share ideas, forge networks, and cultivate partnerships. The training program would eventually prepare them to participate effectively in the DPSMUN conference to be held from the 24th - 26th December 2007 at the India Habitat Centre.
